Welcome
Welcome to Old Buckner Cemetery Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the historic Buckner-O'Brien Cemetery and the historic site of Buckner (a ghost town), the first county seat of Collin County. We strive to protect this priceless piece of Collin County history for future generations.
About Us
Old Buckner Cemetery Association was organized, then recognized, as a nonprofit and tax-exempt cemetery association in 2023. The purpose of organization was to restore, preserve, maintain, and protect the historic 1870's Buckner-O'Brien Cemetery. Located in McKinney, Collin County, Texas located along US HWY 380 at 4202 W. University Drive, the all-volunteer board of directors meets annually to review the condition of the association and its duty to the cemetery and property grounds. The Association and trustees maintain accounts solely for the use of perpetual maintenance and care of the cemetery and property grounds. All filings with the IRS and the State of Texas are public domain.
The current board of directors includes dedicated county historians, lifelong and generational residents, citizen stewards, historic preservationists, and O'Brien descendants.
